Hi, my name is Thi Ngoc Van Österström. I’m 25 years old and originally from Vietnam, but I currently live in Sweden, where I have a permanent residence permit and work part-time. Ever since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of becoming a model. Growing up, many kids laughed at me because I was short, and I knew that my height would be one of my biggest challenges in the modeling industry. When I was in high school, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be. I said, "I want to be a model." Most of my classmates laughed and told me I was too short. It made me sad, but I never gave up on my dream. Instead, I joined several modeling schools to keep learning and improving. I held onto hope and stayed committed to my passion. At 165 cm tall, I often had to wear higher heels than other models, which was painful and challenging, but I pushed through. After completing my modeling classes, I was disappointed to find that the teachers often gave opportunities only to the taller students. Despite this, I didn’t let that stop me. Now that I live and work in Sweden, I still believe in my dream. I’m hoping for a chance to prove myself as a model. If I’m given that opportunity, I promise I won’t let any agency down. I will live with passion, and when I succeed, I want to share that success with the world and give back to those who believed in me. There are many examples of successful models who didn’t fit the traditional standards—and they inspire me to keep going. I know I have what it takes, and I’m ready to travel wherever you need me.
